More than A Menu

My goal for this was to create a new and interesting mechanic and turn it into a game.

It was a unique challenge to make a level that both allowed the player to progress in their own way while not allowing them to do whatever they wanted.

Watching people playtest the game showed me new ways a player could traverse the level that I hadn't even considered.

Spooky House

My goal for this was to design something fully and make a game around the design.

My biggest challenge was time management. I had made the grey boxing too detailed, It worked and looked good but took longer than expected.

Since this project I have grey boxed more and found a happy medium between looking good and taking too much time.

Abandoned Facility

My goal for this was to grey box a unreal tournament level and then fully design a vertical slice of it.

It was an interesting  challenge to design a level for a full game. Having to think about all of the mechanics in the game as you make a level can be a daunting task. In reality though it just gives you the freedom to make a more interesting level.

I had to use assets in unique ways in order to get the desired look of the vertical slice. Adding grime, rust and water damage to the environment with limited assets.

Why Are You Like This?

The goal for this was to create a unique experience. Each of the playable characters represents one of the people on the team and there are lots of 4th wall breaks.

One challenge of this game was learning the Godot engine. Its a finicky beast but it got the job done.

Making this game was particularly fun. Working in a group to make something that we all are proud of is a truly great part of designing video games.
